Sweet Chilli Tofu & Japanese-Style Salad

You Will Need:

  • 300g firm tofu

  • 2 tablespoons sweet chilli sauce

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1 garlic clove, minced

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

  • 2 cups mixed salad leaves

  • 1 cup shredded red cabbage

  • 1 carrot, julienned

  • 1 cucumber, thinly sliced

  • 2 tablespoons Japanese sesame dressing (Mix in 3 tablespoons rice vinegar, 1 tablespoon soy sauce and 1 teaspoon sesame oil)

  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds

  • Optional: crunchy fried noodles for garnish

How To Make:

  1. Prepare the tofu:

    • Drain the tofu and pat dry with paper towels

    • Cut into 2cm cubes.

  2. Marinate the tofu:

    • In a bowl, combine sweet chilli sauce, soy sauce, and minced garlic.

    • Add tofu cubes and gently toss to coat.

    • Let it marinate for 10 minutes.

  3. Cook the tofu:

    • Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat.

    • Add marinated tofu and cook on each side until golden brown and heated through.

    • Remove from heat and set aside.

  4. Prepare the salad:

    • In a large bowl, combine mixed salad leaves, shredded red cabbage, julienned carrot, and sliced cucumber.

    • Drizzle with Japanese sesame dressing and toss to combine.

  5. Assemble the dish:

    • Divide the salad among serving plates.

    • Top with sweet chilli glazed tofu.

    • Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.

    • Garnish with crunchy fried noodles if desired.

  6. Serve immediately and enjoy!
